Lake Wakatipu Dive:
Guided fresh water dive at a site to suit your experience and
confidence. Great for a refresher dive or dry suit orientations.
Ranging from easy sites with gradual descents to steep sheer rock faces,
Lake Wakatipu has much to offer.
With a length of 80 km´s Lake Wakatipu is New Zealand´s longest lake
offering us a great amount of varied dive sites to choose from. The
altitude is 310 metres.
The maximum depth is 420 metres with its floor being as low as 100
metres below sea level.
On your dive you will see many common bullies, small territorial fish
hiding in rocks and weeds. Bright fresh water sponges in various sizes
cling to rock or wood.
We get visited by the occasional trout or if we are lucky come across
huge fresh water eels.
A healthy weed community exists, with bryophytes growing as deep as 60
metres which are only found in a small number of clear water lakes.
Visibility ranges from 8m-25m.
Temperature ranges from 6°C in Winter to 16°C in summer.
